Recently, Neal Currey, a former Army Ranger and influential figure in the firearms community, passed away at the age of 42. Casey Nichelle Currey, his wife, verified the news in a social media post in which she also shared a photo of the couple’s children and stated,
Ready Gunner, founded by Neal Currey, is among the best-known gun stores in the country. Because of his familial background, he was able to achieve great success in the corporate sector.
Grandpa Jack, Currey’s paternal grandfather, started a whitewater guide firm in the 1950s, taking clients down the San Juan River in southern Utah on balsa wood rafts. Rafts are still often utilized on major rivers nowadays. The Idaho guiding business that Neal’s grandfather started was taken over by Neal’s father, Steve, who led clients down the Selway and Middle Fork of the Salmon River.
View this post on InstagramBefore joining the military at age 24, Neal Currey had previously visited every continent thanks to coming along on his father’s river escapades. Neal claimed that at the age of 14, he was already rowing baggage boats. After about ten years of service in the family firm, he set his sights on new horizons. His words were,
After 9/11, this happened. Like most Americans, I was shaken by that and felt compelled to take action. It really irritated me. I felt the need to take action in defense of my nation.
Following his enrollment in the Army under an Option 40 contract, Currey was quickly enlisted in the 75th Ranger Regiment. He was accepted into, and eventually assigned to, the 2nd Ranger Batallion and completed Ranger Training. He enrolled in the 75th Ranger Regiment’s Pre-Ranger Course and trained for three weeks. He made up his mind to finish the last of the land navigation in the next 24 to 36 hours so he could take a break at home.
Unfortunately, Neal Currey’s father was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer when he was serving in Afghanistan with the 2nd Ranger Battalion. After finishing everything in two days, he returned to Utah to bury his father. During his time with the JSOC, he led combat raids.
Before joining Specialized Reconnaissance Assault Transport Systems, he served in the military (SRATS). After some time, he left Triple Canopy’s Counter Assault Team to pursue contract employment abroad. After some thought, he settled on opening a gun shop in Utah and applied for a federal guns license.
Neal was lauded for his qualities as a friend, brother, son, and husband. According to published accounts, Neal Currey passed away in Lindon, Utah, on September 10, 2022, at the age of 43.

His works explore themes of loss and rebirth, and can be both hilarious and melancholy.
Neil Currey Was born on 1948, having been conceived in the city of Exeter in England. For many years, his dad was a foreign correspondent for The New York Times. Therefore, Neil and his siblings were exposed to a wide variety of world literature through his father’s magazine collection.
The influence of Currey’s early exposure to global culture may be seen throughout his works. After finishing his degree at Exeter University, Currey relocated to London and entered the publishing industry there. To conduct his business, Neil has settled within Tillyness Castle in the English town of Eling. His family has renovated and updated this historic manor residence throughout the years. Several of Neil’s kids pitch in to help out at the shop, and they’ll be able to take what they’ve learned from you and build on your success.
