Finding Dory Breaks Box Office Records In Just One Day!

Being released 13 years later as a sequel to Finding Nemo, Finding Dory has smashed box office records by coming in with a huge debut on its opening day!

Pixar’s already massive film accumulated over $55 million on Friday alone. This marks both the biggest opening day and single-day for an animated film. The last film to have the top spot for biggest opening day belonged to Minions, another highly popular movie that proved successful after grossing over $1.1 billion worldwide.

Scott Mendelson of Forbes noted that the film is expected to shift between $143 and $148 million followed by a quite thrilling statement:

Of note, playing the “adjusted for inflation” game, anything over $121m makes it the second biggest animated weekend (not accounting for the 3D bump) behind Shrek 2 ($149m) and Shrek the Third ($151m). We’ll go into prospective domestic totals tomorrow, but I certainly expect this one to be leggier than Shrek the Third.

We could be seeing one of the biggest movie debuts, in general, for a film and it’s nice to see it belong to a film that has lovers of all ages. It’s an encompassing story filled with relatable details and literally a range full of fun for the entire family.

It’s been positively reviewed by critics and the overall consensus for the movie by the site states:

Funny, poignant, and thought-provoking, Finding Dory delivers a beautifully animated adventure that adds another entertaining chapter to its predecessor’s classic story.
